The Gila River Indian Community is opening the Santan Mountain Casino June 30th, to be located in Chandler. The $180-million development broke ground in 2021. The new 150,000-square-foot casino on the southeast corner of Gilbert Road and Hunt Highway will have several dining options, event space, outdoor space, a large BetMGM sportsbook and lounge and, of course, a large gaming floor that will have more than 800 slot machines and more than 25 table games. The Gila River Resorts and Casinos, the company that runs the resorts for the tribe, expects to bring on 700 employees who will work at the new casino.
Las Vegas-based Penta Building Group, which has built other casinos in the Valley, was the general contractor for Santan Mountain Casino. The architecture firm was Steelman Partners. The tribe said it does not have immediate plans to build an adjoining hotel.
